Matsunaga is a 3rd degree Kukkiwon certified blackbelt with more than 15 years of experience in Taekwondo as both practitioner and competitor.
She joined Arch Taekwondo in 2011, while pursuing a medical degree at St. Louis University School of Medicine. She is lives in the St. Louis area and is currently a doctor in residence at a local hospital and a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.
